My today&#8217;s article in The Guardian:<\/em><\/p>\n<p>With the result of the <a class=\"u-underline\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/live\/2016\/jun\/24\/eu-referendum-brexit-live-europe-leave-remain-britain\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">EU referendum<\/a> it is now crystal clear: the game has gone too far.\u00a0The diagnosis of the \u201cUK illness\u201d \u2013 creating a beast you cannot control \u2013 was always felt in Germany but seldom spoken about out loud. Whenever I talked to stakeholders in Berlin or even German diplomats in London about British politics in the past decade, they were both fascinated by their shiny rhetoric and annoyed by a great lack of solidarity and the permanent gambling in an attempt to cherry-pick the aspects of the EU that suited Britain. Unlike during the 80s and 90s, boring speeches are far more appreciated by the German people now.<a class=\"u-underline\" title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2016\/apr\/11\/kevin-spacey-house-of-cards-us-election-netflix-presidential-candidates\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">House of Cards<\/a> scares us.
